Student Council - Road Runners

Student Council

Our Purpose:

  • Promote leadership and citizenship
  • Build and encourage friendship across grade levels
  • Be role models to encourage all students to strive for their personal best
  • Help promote school spirit and pride
  • Respect all citizens and groups in our community
  • Raise money to fund future service activities within the school and community.

The Palmquist Student Council plays a vital role in the development of the students.  Students run for office and on election day 4th and 5th grade students vote for a candidate. There are seven offices

* President :Jadon Paopao

        * 5th grade Vice-President: Brandon Furtado

 * 4th grade Vice-President: Sabrina Phelps

* Secretary: Kaylen Lash

        * Treasurer: Judah Coker

     *  5th grade Publicity Officer: Kayle Plouffe

* 4th grade Publicity Officer: Sabrina Garcia

Additionally two students from each of the third, fourth and fifth grade classes are elected by their classmates or appointed by their teachers to become members of Student Council for each year.  The group meets on a regular basis to plan school wide activities as well as charity events.

Palmquists' Student Council supports charities through year long fund raising efforts.  They raise money through Holiday Candy Grams and the student store. The students at Palmquist Elementary try to involve themselves in the community by collecting contributions for charities such as Brother Beno's.

Promoting school spirit is another important function of Student Council.  Through the use of posters the members try to encourage all students and staff to participate in our various activities.  Crazy Hair Day, Pajama Day and Sports Day are just some examples of spirit days planned throughout the year. Student Council also participates in activities to promote school spirit by monthly lunchtime activities such as a dance-off, hula hooping, and jump rope contests.
