Classroom Homework Policy

Please read the following carefully to answer any questions you may have regarding homework that will be
assigned in my classroom. Discuss it with your child and return the bottom portion with your signature.
















Purpose:
To provide review, reinforcement, or enrichment


To develop writing, thinking, and study skills


To prepare for assessment of content and skills


To enhance student responsibility and independence








Student Responsibilities: Student's best effort on each assignment



Completed assignments handed in on time



Neat and legible writing




Completion of make-up work if absent or out of classroom


Use of student planner daily in all subjects









Parent Responsibilities: Make homework a top priority in your home



Provide the necessary supplies




Provide a quiet environment




Set aside a certain time each day for homework


Provide praise and support, but step back and allow your child to do the work


Initial the student planner and/or each assignment








Schedule/Timing: Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights


Homework should take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete








Policy-Consequences:

A 3 strike system is used for incomplete assignments in each subject area. All strikes are erased monthly. Strikes may result in loss of recess, classroom privileges, preferred time activities, or even field trips



If there is a legitimate reason for an unfinished assigment, please send a
signed note stating the reason for it. Illness is definitely a legitimate reason.
All missed work must be made up by the student.
